April 13th: The Big Bopper Slots
From Real Time Gaming, a tribute to The Big Bopper, "J. P." Richardson, Jr., who was an American musician, songwriter, and disc jockey, and rock and roll star. He is best known for his 1958 recording of "Chantilly Lace". On February 3, 1959, Richardson died in a plane crash along with music stars Buddy Holly and Ritchie Valens. That event has become known as "The Day the Music Died" because it is so called in Don McLean's 1971 song "American Pie".
In 1988, a stainless steel monument at the crash site depicts a steel guitar and a set of three records bearing the names of each of the three performers. Also created, was a similar stainless steel monument to the three near the Riverside Ballroom in Green Bay, Wisconsin. The memorial was unveiled on July 17, 2003. The Big Bopper's contribution to the genre has been recognized by the Rockabilly Hall of Fame. In 2010, Richardson was inducted into the Iowa Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame. The Big Bopper slots are due to be released on April 13, 2016, so not a lot is known about the slot game yet.
